EORI number (or Economic Operators Registration and Identification number) is a compulsory number for all companies who handle goods in the EU. The unique number is given to a business or a person and is valid in the whole EU community. The EORI number for economic operators consists of a country code and a unique code or a unique number.
The EORI system was created for increased security mandated by the Security Amendment. The European Union centrally registers all EORI numbers in the EORI database for the customs authorities of the various Member States.
